Art Nude Photography - a Studio Workshop

Art nude photography is a discipline where technique and sensitivity carry equal weight. This workshop is designed for photographers who have some studio experience and want to explore the specific challenges of working with the nude form: how to use light to sculpt rather than simply illuminate, how to direct a model towards shapes and poses that feel both intentional and authentic, and how to build images that sit somewhere between portraiture and fine art.

We work in a small group with an experienced and patient model, using the studio's professional flash equipment. Depending on the time of year, part of the session may use natural light from the studio's French doors. The day is structured around shooting, with guidance and feedback throughout rather than a fixed lecture format. You will come away with a clear set of images and a better understanding of what you are trying to achieve and how to get there.

The session is tutored by both Barrie and Fiona, whose combined experience of fine-art nude photography spans their own practice and years of teaching. Between them there is very little on this subject they have not encountered and worked through.
